Theresa Berend

After being licensed by the State of Texas in 2004, Theresa practiced commercial litigation in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, for over eight years. During her tenure at a well-known Fort Worth law firm, Theresa worked on multi-million dollar lawsuits involving large corporations and complex legal issues, including employment law matters. In 2012, Theresa formed The Berend Law Firm, PLLC, providing counsel regarding employment law, estates and trusts, and non-profit law for individuals and small businesses. In 2014, Theresa and Christie Lindsey opened the law firm Berend & Lindsey, PLLC in order to collaborate and provide a wider range of legal services to the community.

Theresa’s practice includes representation of employees and small businesses in relation to employment matters including, but not limited to, consultation and drafting of employment agreements, separation agreements, noncompetition agreements, as well as consultation and representation regarding wrongful termination and discrimination claims. Theresa also provides a wide-range of services to small businesses, including counsel related to business formation matters, contracts, employment matters, and consultation on litigation claims. Theresa also handles similar matters and counsel for non-profit organizations, including obtaining tax-exempt status through the IRS and related state government agencies. Most importantly, Theresa enjoys counseling individuals and couples in relation to estate planning, especially when her clients are experiencing a life change such as growing a family or entering retirement. Naturally, she is also there for her clients when they experience the loss of a loved one and have to face the legal arrangements that naturally result therefrom.

Theresa endeavors to give back to her community through active involvement in local non-profit organizations such as Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth, Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, and Junior Woman’s Club of Fort Worth, among others. She thoroughly enjoys running, reading, and watching movies, but her favorite way to pass time is being with her husband and three young children.
